Volunteers are at the heart of Northern Arizona Audubon Society.

From conservation and community science to education and outreach, our volunteers help protect birds and the habitats they depend on.

Whether you can help once in a while or are looking for an ongoing role, there’s something for you.

Ways to Volunteer

We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including:

  • Community Events & Tabling – Share our mission and engage with the public

  • Habitat Stewardship & Garden Care – Help maintain native plant gardens and bird-friendly spaces

  • Bird Walks & Public Programs – Assist with or help lead educational outings

  • Conservation Counts & Monitoring – Support Christmas Bird Counts, surveys, and research projects

  • Hands-On Projects – Build bird boxes and help with special projects

  • Administrative & Behind-the-Scenes Support – Help with coordination, data entry, marketing, or communications

Opportunities vary by season, location, and need.

How to Get Involved

The best way to get involved is to fill out our Volunteer Interest Form below. This helps us learn about your interests, skills, and availability so we can share opportunities that are a good fit.

Submitting the form does not commit you to volunteering — it simply helps us connect with you when opportunities arise.

What to expect:

  • You’ll receive emails about volunteer opportunities that match your interests
  • You choose when and how often you volunteer
  • Training or guidance is provided when needed
  • Your time and contributions are deeply appreciated and celebrated
