Rockin’ River Ranch State Park (RRRSP) Butterfly walk/count, Sunday, May 4th, 9-11 AM.
Join Butterfly Enthusiasts of Northern Arizona (BENA). We will walk approximately 2 miles, along a mostly flat trail, however there are some spots where the trail is covered with rocks so can be unstable. We will count butterfly species as well as the total number of individuals we see and learn about butterflies along the way. A large portion of the trail is in direct sun, with no tree canopy. It is recommended to bring the following: hydration, hat, sunscreen, snack, binoculars and camera (if preferred). RRRSP is located at 4513 S. Salt Mine Road in Camp Verde. Meet at the White Cliff trailhead parking lot. There are vault toilets. A State Park pass or a $10 entry fee is required to enter the park. This is the first of a six-month citizen science butterfly count, so only rain will cancel the events. Come for one or all…every first Sunday of the month, May - October. Same time, same location. Great for beginners; open to everyone! Becky Hardy will lead. Questions? Email azbutterflygirl@outlook.com
