Frances Short Pond February 22nd, 10am-12pm
Come bird with us at Frances Short Pond! This is a great trip for beginners to see birds up close without having to travel far. As a small park near downtown Flagstaff, this will be a shorter trip with opportunities to see charismatic birds like Northern Shovelers, Mallards, Ring-necked Duck, Northern Flickers, Red-winged Blackbird, and Great-tailed Grackle. Other unique waterfowl such as Redheads and Common Mergansers may show up here too.
Francis Short Pond is nested between Thorpe Park and Flagstaff High School, and parking can be accessed by turning onto N Aztec St from W Cherry Ave. This location will be easy walking with flat trails, and bathrooms are available. Be sure to bring sunscreen, walking shoes, a hat, binoculars, water, and wear warm layers. Weather may be cold! For any questions please reach out to Abbie Brozich at 480-519-0538
