Buffalo Range Road to Raymond Ranch.
Meet at I40 East exit 211 at 8:00. You'll see a Shell gas station. We will review carpooling options there.
Then, we will drive 14 miles to exit 225, Buffalo Range Road.
This is grassland birding at its best. We'll stop at several stock tanks along the road to see a nice variety of birds like Horned Lark, Chestnut-collared Longspurs, Sagebrush Sparrows (as well as Brewers, Vesper, Savanah and WC sparrows). Anything can show up.
I've had decent raptor species this winter, including American Kestrel, Merlin, Prairie Falcon, Northern Harrier and Golden Eagle, but of course, nothing is certain.
Dress warm and especially have wind breaking clothing. The wind can quickly kill enthusiasm.
Bring snacks and scopes if you have them.
