Pinyon Pine Bird Walk with Northern Arizona Audubon Society, Saturday, September 21, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Picture Canyon

Join Pinyon Jay expert, Grant Pegram, from Northern Arizona Audubon Society for a free guided bird walk in the pines. Please RSVP for more details. Location will be in the Flagstaff area and determined by jay activity. To be announced in upcoming days.

Grant is a trained wildlife biologist based in Flagstaff working with NAU and Great Basin Bird Observatory to survey and photograph breeding birds in forest habitats all across northern Arizona. As part of Great Basin Bird Observatory, he conducted ten-day Pinyon Jay specific occupancy surveys on public and private lands- hiking eight miles a day locating colonies and nests in several types of Pinyon-juniper habitats! Additionally, he conducted IMBCR breeding bird surveys across every Northern Arizona county in the early summer. As part of NAU, he leads a public outreach project focusing on photographing birds of the Colorado Plateau, through an imaging lab on campus.
