Citizen Science Event - Monarch Monitoring Blitz at Crescent Moon Ranch- Thursday, August 1st, 7:15 - 9 a.m. Meet at Crescent Moon Ranch on Thursday, August 1st, 7:15 a.m.-9 a.m. to participate in a citizen science event for the International Monarch Monitoring Blitz. Restrooms are available. Be a part of this tri-national (Canada, Mexico, and the United States) effort to support the Monarch Butterfly’s conservation by collecting observations of the Monarch’s milkweed plants. We will search for and report the total amount of Monarch eggs, caterpillars, chrysalids and adult butterflies we find. No experience is necessary; a short training will be provided before we begin. Bring a clipboard and pen or pencil, as well as the usual: sturdy shoes, sunscreen, hat, snack, water, binoculars and cameras (for documentation purposes - to be posted when data is submitted). Becky Hardy will lead the walk and submit the data collected during this event. RSVP is required to participate. To RSVP or for any questions, contact Becky at butterflygirl@bricksofknowledge.com. For more information about the International Monarch Monitoring Blitz, visit http://www.cec.org/international-monarch-monitoring-blitz/. Please note: Crescent Moon Ranch gates open at 7 a.m. Please give yourself enough time to enter the gate. We will start promptly at 7:15 a.m. Rain will cancel the event. Carpooling is recommended.
