We will meet at the Clarkdale Wastewater Treatment Plant at 9. Directions: Drive through Old Town Cottonwood, continuing on Broadway. Turn right just after the sign to Tuzigoot National Monument. You will see 375, 375A at the turn. Follow the road down to the farthest point just past a gravel pile where you’ll find a parking area. There are no restrooms. We will look for waterfowl at the treatment pond, walk through a mesquite bosque down a hill to Big Springs where woodpeckers, titmice, and birds that favor large cottonwoods could be seen. Then we will circle around along the river's bank where the phoebe, kinglet, verdin, wren, song sparrow and warbler frequent. We will return to our vehicles along the very cobbled Deception Gulch. Bring binoculars, camera, scope, resource materials, water, and snacks. Wear a visor/hat, sturdy shoes and dress in layers for the weather variation. Kristen Rothrock will lead. If you have any questions, contact her at 928-634-3633 or by email bkrothrock@gmail.com.
