Verde Village Nature Preserve and Del Rio Pond in Cottonwood - Tuesday, January 16th, 8:30-11:30 AM.
Meet at the parking area for Del Rio Pond (GPS: 3896 E. Del Rio Dr.) No public restrooms. Though ample parking is expected here I would encourage carpooling if possible. We will check out the waterfowl in the small pond and then carpool to the nearby riparian nature preserve trail. There has been a good density of birds seen here lately including many sparrows, towhees, two warbler species, and even a rare Winter Wren. The trail is easy walking but could be muddy. Distance about 1.25 miles. Bring whatever you need to be comfortable; sturdy shoes, clothing layers, hat/visor, snack, hydration and binoculars are recommended. Heather Hofling will lead.
