Searching for dippers in Oak Creek Canyon with Harry. Sunday, Nov. 19th 8:30 am - 11:30 (depending upon seeing American Dipper)

Cave Springs Campgrounds and Bootlegger Picnic Area

We will meet in the dirt parking lot at the entrance to Cave Springs Campgrounds, please consider carpooling as parking will be limited. We will search for overwintering American Dipper in the stream at two sites in Oak Creek Canyon, birding our way around Cave Springs before heading down to Bootlegger and walking a short section of the A. B. Young Trail. Other species of interest include canyon residents such as Canyon Wren and Bridled Titmouse, overwintering Red-naped Sapsucker and Townsend's Solitaire, and the potential for late migrant Pacific Wren or Hammond's Flycatcher. It seems to be a good year for the winter finches around Flagstaff, so good views of Pine Siskin, Red Crossbill, Evening Grosbeak, and Cassin's Finch may also be possible.
