Big Sit at Butterfly Springs on Mingus Mountain. Labor Day, Sept. 4th, 7 am – 12 noon (total time.)
Yes, it's a big sit, but will take a lot more than one hour. This requires driving and hiking up to the spot where we’ll sit. Meet at Safeway in Cottonwood, combine cars and head up Mingus Mountain. We will park and walk up Butterfly Trail. Then sit for one hour at the pond. Recent migrants included: Townsend’s, Hermit, Virginia’s, Grace’s and Nashville Warblers; all three nuthatches, House Wren, Hermit Thrushes and more. If the group is game, we’ll visit at least one other spot before driving down. Bring hiking boots, hiking poles, hats, water, snacks, etc. Bathrooms are available on the way up and down, but none are available on the trail.
