Common Ground: Collaborative conservation on working lands
Join Northern Arizona Audubon Society (NAAS) and the Diablo Trust on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the AZGFD conference room located at 3500 S. Lake Mary Rd. from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
We will explore conservation efforts on our common ground - Anderson Mesa. As the Steward of Anderson Mesa's Important Bird Area (IBA), NAAS will speak about how and why this stretch of land became an IBA. NAAS volunteers gave many hours over years to gain this designation. Diablo Trust's decades of work toward their mission of collaborative land stewardship has advanced the protection of birds and all wildlife on these important lands. As a landowner, Flying M Ranch is uniquely qualified to share more about their on-the-ground conservation efforts on the mesa. Together we will learn more about the relationship between wildlife populations - specifically birds - and working lands. And we’ll begin the important conversation about how this collaboration can take us into the future so that our common efforts continue to be meaningful and effective.
Also join us for an experiential field trip the following day on Anderson Mesa led by NAAS - Saturday, September 16th. 8:00 am - 1:30 pm.
Northern Arizona Audubon Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization dedicated to engaging people in appreciating and protecting birds and the places they need.
