Jail Trail - Searching for SW Willow Flycatchers – Sunday, June 4th - 7:00 – 9:00 am.
Meet at the Jail Trail parking lot at 7:00 am. We’ll head down to the Verde to find nesting habitat suitable for these ‘feisty birds’. We hope to hear them singing their hoarse “fitz-bew” from high perches in their territory. Or their dry “whit” ora burry zip, “which sounds similar to someone quickly zipping up a jacket.” https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Willow_Flycatcher/sounds. We will walk on dirt paths and over some rocky areas. Wear hat, sunscreen, binoculars. Bring water, snack and walking sticks if you need them. No facilities. Leader: Kay Hawklee.
