Mingus Lake Big Sit - Friday May 5th, 8:30-9:30 AM. We will sit from approximately 8:30-9:30. Meet at the Safeway parking lot in Cottonwood at 7 AM. (Or meet at Mingus Lake parking area at 8:30).
At 7:05, we’ll caravan and carpool up to Mingus Lake parking area with two stops along the way at pullouts. There is a vault toilet. We will sit on the dam between the lake and the “drip” down below and count species for one hour. Migrating Warblers are our target species; however, we’ll be looking for Tanagers, Orioles, other mountain species and hummingbirds. Bring a chair or blanket for sitting on the ground. It’s a short hike from the cars to the dam, so a lightweight chair is preferable. We will be in the sun – so if you have an umbrella or sun hat, bring them. Bring water, snacks and walking sticks as needed. Leader: Kay Hawklee. For more info email khawklee@gmail.com, or text: 432-703-0007.
