Let's Bird Kachina Wetlands, Saturday, May 6, 7:30 am – 9:30 am
Meet at 7:30 am at the parking lot for Kachina Wetlands off Tovar Trail. Kachina Wetlands is a wonderful location to view waterfowl and raptors. In May, we can expect to see many species of ducks, Great Blue Herons, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Common Yellowthroats, and Ospreys.
Be prepared to walk approximately 2 miles on a level, gravel road. It is wheelchair accessible, although it is uneven in places.
Bring binoculars if you have them, water, sunscreen, and a hat. No bathrooms are available.
The field trip leader is Tom Hedwall, tshedwall@gmail.com
How to get there: From I-17 south of Flagstaff, take the Kachina Village exit. Immediately turn right, onto Tovar Trail. Follow Tovar north for one mile, and turn right into the dirt parking area. You will see a large green water tower near the entrance.
